The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 663 new COVID-19 cases in 25 states and the federal capital territory (FCT). The members of Ondo state special task force on Covid-19 have arrested a Coronavirus patient that escaped from Imo state to come and stay at Akure, Ondo state. The management of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) yesterday confirmed the death of one of its students, 22-year-old Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuwa, who was gang-raped and clubbed to death by yet-to-be-identified persons. The incident took place inside the Ikpoba Hill branch of Redeemed Christian Church of God, in Benin City, Edo State. The victim was beaten on May 13, where she went to study. She died on May 31, 18 days after, at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital. She was 22 years old. It was gathered that the Ikpoba Hill branch of the church where the incident occurred was on Sunday morning set ablaze allegedly by angry students of the university.
