1. A Covid-19 patient who escaped from Imo state has been arrested in Ondo state.

The members of Ondo state special task force on Covid-19 have arrested a Coronavirus patient that escaped from Imo state to come and stay at Akure, Ondo state.

The patient was apprehended at the popular Ojo Oba Market in Akure on Saturday. The woman was caught where she was selling second hand clothes to people in the market.

2. The murder of a pregnant woman in Ibadan looks like a ritual killing - Police.

The Oyo State Police Command has said that the murder of Azeezat Somuyiwa, 29, in the Akinyele Moniya Local Government Area of Oyo State, is similar to ritual killing.

The Police said investigations were ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding Somuyiwa’s death and that of 18-year-old Barakat Bello who was raped and killed in the same LGA.

In a bid to unearth facts behind the murder of the duo, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Nwachukwu Enwonwu, relocated his office to the area.

3. Lagos State accredits 3 private hospitals for the treatment of Covid-19.

The Government of Lagos State has accredited three private hospitals to manage COVID-19 cases in the state.

A statement from the Lagos State Ministry of Health quoted the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, as disclosing this at a news briefing to give situation report on COVID-19 management in the state.

Abayomi stressed that one of the accredited private hospitals is already admitting patients, adding that the other two will soon start admission and management of patients.

4. Another set of 63 Zamfara miners has been intercepted in Osun state.

Another set of 63 northern youths from Zamfara state that were heading to mining sites in Ilesha and Ile-Ife have been intercepted in Ikire, Osun State.

Fifty-three of the youths, aged between 16 and 23 years hidden in a truck, were intercepted by men of Amotekun Corps on enforcement of border closure in Ikire town.

5. Federal government not absorbing N-Power volunteers - Ministry of humanitarian affair declares.

The Federal Government on Saturday refuted reports that the President Muhammadu Buhari will on June 12 absorb some N-Power volunteers into the Federal Civil Service.

The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, in a statement signed by its Deputy Director, Information, Rhoda Iliya, described the report as “fake”.

It said information regarding the Scheme or the National Social Investment Programme would be issued through the appropriate channels.

6. INEC foresees crisis in the upcoming Edo Primaries as PDP, APC begin governorship aspirants screening.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has expressed fears over the possibility of crisis affecting party primaries ahead of the governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states scheduled for September 19 and October 10 2020 respectively.

The commission called on security agencies to act proactively to contain the threat, while advocating a “review of the security architecture,” in the light of the coronavirus pandemic. It urged them to “come up with clear guidelines as well as supplementary code of conduct for security personnel on election duty.”

7. Parents and residents have been thrown into panic in a community in Lagos State, after the sudden disappearance of 4 kids.

Residents of Otto, Ebute-Metta area of Lagos State say children are falling prey to alleged abduction in the community with at least five kids already missing.

The children are identified as Dunmola Ogunjobi, four; Aisha Taiwo four; Daniel Samuel, three; Alimat Onikoyi, four and two-year-old Romanus.

The incident, which started June last year, has created panic among dwellers while parents of the victims languish in pain.

Recent among the cases was the sudden disappearance of Ogunjobi while she was playing with her friends last Tuesday in front of her parents’ residence on Akinlolu Street, Otto.

8. Nigeria records 389 new cases of Covid-19 as total confirmed cases is now 12,233.

389 new persons contracted coronavirus in Nigeria in the past 24 hours, 

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 12,233.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control made this known on Friday.

The NCDC said, “On the 6th of June 2020, 389 new confirmed cases were recorded in Nigeria."
