The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 663 new COVID-19 cases in 25 states and the federal capital territory (FCT).
This is the highest daily toll ever since Nigeria confirmed its index case on February 27, 2020.
With 663 samples confirmed positive on Tuesday, a total of 13,464 COVID-19 cases have now been recorded in 35 states and the FCT.
1. Kaduna reopens hotels, supermarkets, places of worship after 75 days in lockdown.
El-Rufai says it is still considered unsafe for markets and schools to reopen.
The Kaduna State government has announced the partial lifting of a lockdown that was first enforced in March 2020 to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Governor Nasir El-Rufai announced during a broadcast from Tuesday, June 10, that the quarantine order has been revised for permission to reopen the state significantly from Wednesday, June 10.
The governor said businesses could reopen Wednesday in accordance with safe reopening protocols, such as providing thermometers, such as temperature checks, sanitizers or handwashing equipment, and physical distance measures at all facilities.
El-Rufai said the working hours for such businesses are between 9am and 3pm daily.
Businesses mentioned by the governor include personalized services such as supermarkets, hair dressing and barbing salons and restaurants restricted to takeout services.
He said the hotels could also be reopened, but their restaurants and bars must provide room service.
Church services are also allowed to reopen, but only for Sunday services, and mosques are only allowed to perform Friday Zumaat services, for now.
Places of worship are also advised to follow safety regulations.
2. Reps move to block entry of foreign herdsmen into Nigeria
The House of Representatives urged the federal government to stop cattle herders from other African countries entering Nigeria.

5. Ndume asks FG to slash workers’ salaries.

“People should make sacrifices. This is the time to look at issues critically. But as I said, When I talk like this – and make my opinion – people look at it and call me all sorts of names. But I try to express myself.
“I think there should be more sacrifice, especially on the personnel side. How can you sustain the same personnel and overhead costs when even the work that you are doing, most people don’t go to the office now, and they are being paid fully for the month.
“Is there any justification for that? If you cannot work because of the pandemic, then you should be given palliatives and be paid less.”
6. Mother of 13 gives birth to quadruplets in Zaria.
Howrah Sulaiman, a 34-year-old housewife, gave birth to quadriceps at Gambo Sawaba General Hospital in Zaria, Kawana.
